After all the horrible things Kaiser did to Evan, he was sick all the time, for a long time. We still had Kaiser insurance and we also had CHOC, but it was hard to get into CHOC because it was a “state” program, but GREAT doctors.

After Evan survived the overdose, Kaiser hospice had set-up Evan into State programs, they wanted Evan out of Kaiser. Once we saw a few CHOC doctors, we realized how educated and caring these “other” doctors were. Since Kaiser was still our insurance, every time we went to CHOC, CHOC would not want to see Evan because we had a Primary carrier already. Kaiser knew this and this was how they removed Evan from Kaiser. We either stay with Kaiser, or get excellent care and talent from CHOC. We had no choice.

He was treated many times for sinus infections at Kaiser, so we set up an appointment with a sinus specialist at Kaiser. She told us “he was too young to have sinuses” What? It was true, they had not developed. His teeth were brought up every time by us at Kaiser, but no one did anything. A pediatrician named Louise Gordon at Kaiser finally addressed his teeth, she wrote on record:

“Has lack of dentin, has abscesses and infection, Few teeth left, some caries” They did NOTHING about it and he was always in pain and ill. The poison was running through-out his body for 2 years , yet they did not care.

This Pediatrician at Kaiser, Gordon, also told us NOT to bring Evan into a Kaiser hospital- ever again, she stressed that by repeating it without saying directly what she meant and that is when we sought-out CHOC<our best decision. The CHOC “physicians” are not only well educated and unrushed to see their next 2 dozen patients, but the entire system is light years ahead of Kaiser as are the doctors. My research for over a decade into our case has shown me to investigate every doctor we see, and CHOC hires the very finest, but it doesn’t just stop at past education at CHOC, many are very involved with current research – something you just don’t/won’t find at Kaiser. I cannot stress this enough and I also have to give very high credit to Rady’s in San Diego.

So we forced our way to CHOC metabolics to see a very good metabolic specialist Dr. Wang. He rushed us to an oral surgeon and within weeks they removed Evan’s teeth. His face was so swollen (the pictures) , yet Kaiser just swept it under the carpet and gave him antibiotics probably 10 times, I lost count. We had another surgery to do the same as the teeth came out and will again his whole life. This is a result of the drugs in hospice, the drugs that did medically nothing for him, except destroy his mind and body. To date Evan has had 5 dental surgeries, all damage from hospice drugs, we are doing our best to keep as many permanent teeth as possible.

If you have seen a drug addict, they always have rotting teeth-this is Evan. Kaiser ignored this each and every time, just as they refused to give us oxygen. So their terrible treatment continued far after this attempted murder. Today, He could eat solids if he had teeth. It breaks your heart to see him suffer going through surgery being blind and quadriplegic, but it is worse with the infection running through his body and his pieces of teeth breaking apart and the constant pain. We are lucky he did not develop heart disease from the rotting teeth.

So the story never ends and their torture of this little innocent will always be with him and us. This is a careless example of one of many inhuman acts against Evan and his family. If we look at “their” prognosis, why bother with the drugs in the first place? “He will Die” at 3 months old as stated in the initial pre-hospice report. They stated in Hospice records 4 times, “6 months to live”, at the beginning of hospice 2X, then in the middle of hospice, and again at the end of hospice – 2 years apart!

There are 2 documents NOT in the Medical Records, The Pre-hospice Assessment & the Final DNA of not just Evan, but of the family. What is in the medical Records are continuos infections caused by rotting teeth due to hospice drugs.

Evan was treated multiple times for Pneumonia, but these were infections from rotting teeth, then on 10/16/08, one of the mis-diagnosis of his continuos infections, they found fecal matter pushing on his lungs. This was after x-rays and antibiotics. Evan was given a laxative to CURE his Pneumonia a week later.

So with multiple Pneumonia and sinusitis diagnosis, then a finding (by one of Kaiser’s Specialists) Evan had “no sinuses” at this age. We learned by going to Kaiser on Saturdays instead during the week, we often found “contracted” doctors from “other” hospitals covering the weekend shift. This very qualified doctor was from Cedars and she immediately found Evan’s problem and cured his “Pneumonia” with a very short term laxative.

Although this “hit & miss” strategy at receiving good healthcare from Kaiser worked for us, it was short lived when one of these “outside” doctors ordered oxygen for Evan. The order was quickly stopped by Kaiser’s equipment division and they went out of their way to deny Evan oxygen.

Again, Kaiser is more concerned about building more hospitals and becoming a power in the medical industry, than caring for patients and this is another way they achieve it.

SO WHY THE DRUGS ? They never answered this question

Now you know why

Being Evan’s father, I cannot look at this picture, It reminds me of his suffering & the people that created this. I remember the discoloringof his eyes because of infection, the pain and no escape we had as a family. Many thoughts I must keep to myself, but you can imagine, the many disappointments from legal authority were a constant – the lawmakers and keepers day after day never doing what we hired them to do. His whole body was full of infection, and this is after what they had already done to Evan.

3. An expert opinion (oral surgeon)

How important is teeth to an infant ? Chewing and learning to chew is a natural learning process, even for this damaged “toddler”. The will for sustenance is very powerful as long as Evan had his mother to feed him, he would eat well, but till today has no teeth. We still have hope that his permanent teeth will come out white and unaffected by Kaiser’s drugs. Just the ability to hold a bottle is nearly impossible today, because without teeth we must constantly hold the bottle and apply pressure so the bottle does not slide out. We have rigged up and tried many ways to allow him to feed without us standing holding the bottle, it is still very hard. Normal babies learn to hold the bottle very early, this will never be our option. Teeth allow a child to grip the bottle and of course being able to use one’s hands keeps the bottle in the mouth.

Evan’s mother has been this family’s blessing and her care is a very large part of his survival.

People from CHOC & Evan’s incredible oral surgeon are examples of Doctors that truly lend their lives to others, not to a corporate identity (which is their only identity) or sustained guaranteed wealth. These people can be called Physicians and make the name proud.

If you have read through this far, you can see how many outside doctors we feel had gone out of their way to help Evan, yet Kaiser did nothing and they were getting paid month after wasted month for their worthless services. I can tell how many good doctors put their hand on my shoulder or shook my hand and gave us a hug saying “thank you” for continuing our quest for justice, but that was easy, it is our son.

INSURANCE;

I tried to get him new insurance because of the NEW law that states “Pre-Existing” conditions are covered- this is not true. Yes you can buy insurance for a pre-existing condition, but what they don’t say is how much it costs, and it’s about 5x higher than normal insurance and many people with a pre-existing condition already have tons of bills. It is a window dressing law at best, it’s politics. So for those who think this law is a Great new idea, it means absolutely nothing to those who need it, but sure sounds good.

Evan’s oral health is far from a Dental Plan too, it is all-out expensive surgery
