Dr. Mardach
02/12/2007
Metabolics in Los Angeles, one of only two metabolic specialists kaiser has for it’s over 8+ million members in California, she is the Southern lab. Kaiser’s own Dr. Rebecca Mardach who is the CORRECT type of specialist, (Metabolics) = metabolic disorder) she tells me they found an organic acid that was elevated and Evan may have a disorder, so she took urine and sent it off to Amsterdam , yes Europe ,because this lab was the only lab that was researching this particular organic acid. There is a D and L type of Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria. D type shows early and L type a little later , but often just as early.
Evan’s Pediatric Metabolic Consultation
Mardach told me the following :
1. “You May have behavioral Problems”
2. “He could be or not be affected by this”
3. “We just don’t know, it is 1 to a 100”
4. “some kids are normal, some delayed and some retarded” ,”but he is far too young , you just have to wait and see”
That was about it, we went from a FINE assessment from the Gurbani to “OH No !” what now? at Metabolics in two weeks. Dr. Mardach was correct with only one exception of how many patients there were, there were many more than she had spoke of. So now I am preparing our life for a MAYBE special needs child?, my friends have one and they are okay, so I have to accept anything that comes at us.
Dr. Mardach being the correct specialist was now ELIMINATED from any medical advice from here-on, her assessment was ignored. The only communication that I have from her is “much much” later when a Children’s hospital doctor (Wang) called her office. She stated to him ; “I don’t understand why they quit treating Evan” She had no idea what had happened to him, and the reason she was eliminated ?, this treatment was NOT acceptable with her knowledge base. What she told me and what she wrote into record would not see any need for hospice, so she was out of their loop. Raymond Wang is an excellent metabolic doctor at CHOC and wanted to know why Evan was treated in this way.
Dr Mardach in her medical records has Evan’s correct assessment. This has been confirmed, with Amsterdam’s Dissertation that the SEVERE types have “other” disease mainly Cardiomyopathies which Evan does not have and that the severe type 2’s often die with these “other” diseases, so Evan defaults to mild or moderate.
Why was Dr Mardach “left-out” of any further communication with the patient AND even more important,
why was Dr Mardach “left-out” of ANY input with Broome (genetics) and Brumley (hospice) ? When the above Doctor Wang from CHOC asked Dr Mardach about Evan, this was to her surprise, the first time she had heard of his treatment many months later. Even IF Broome could produce records that she communicated with Dr Mardach, these records are in fact missing, maybe they did exist at one time and that would be the best reason for the records to be missing-this would not be the first time records were missing as I have proven this more than once in this site.
The next doctor is where this all goes very wrong – Dr. Broome in Genetics.
